“Poseidon garden” of Ischia

On the island of Ischia located in the Mediterranean Sea there are some thermal parks with special water.  The biggest park is “Poseidon Garden”.  The park is under protection of “UNESCO” and also is known as the eighth wonder of the world.  It should be noted that conditions in thermal parks in Ischia are better and more favorable, than in similar parks for example in Israel. 

The thermal park “Poseidon Garden” is located directly on volcano Epomeo, which last eruption was in XIII century.   The volcanic origin of the island causes variety of thermal sources which drew attention of people since ancient times.   Since VIII century the medical tradition of Ischia which has passed the Greek, Roman, Medieval periods, Renaissance time, the period of rational medicine, and also included modern approaches in medicine is developed.  

IMG_2866On the territory of the park there are 22 pools (thermal and pools with ocean water. Water temperature in pools varies from 15 °C to 60 °C degrees. The therapeutic effect is based on richness of mineral salts and on favorable impact of contrast water temperatures on a human organism. The chemical composition of water includes sodium, chloride, bromide, and iodide, also sodium sulfate and chloride with traces of aluminum, magnesium, iron and radon.

Also for visitors of the park there is a Roman sauna, which is located in a natural grotto, also there is a center for medical procedures, a big private beach and a restaurant.

Indications for stay in the resort:

Diseases of respiratory system (pharyngitis, laryngitis, chronic bronchitis, bronchial asthma, rhinitis), diseases of the musculoskeletal device (osteoarthrosis, neuralgia, chronic polyarthritis, radiculitises, osteochondrosis, etc.), skin diseases (dermatitis, eczemas, dermatosis, seborrhea, psoriasis).

Methods of treatment:

Thermal bathtubs, thermal shower, thermal steam, inhalations, mud-therapy, hydromassage, thermal bathtubs with ozone.

Contraindications:

Cardiovascular diseases, hemophilia, hypertension, oncology, pregnancy

Gardens are open from  1st of April  to  31th of October.

Entrance fee:

- 30 or 28 euros (depending on a season) for the whole day

- 25 or 21,50 euros (depending on a season) from 14 o’clock till closing

- 14 or 15 euros (depending on a season) for the children’s ticket (from 3 up to 12 years old)

- free of charge children under 3 years old, but they aren’t allowed to thermal procedures. For children on the territory of the park there is two simple swimming pools with normal water.
